Musical Bodyshop

A Dancers' Body Awareness Workshop
at Bramshaw with Steve and Debbie

Has your tango dancing hit the 'doldrums'? Are you are looking for a powerful learning tool to help you improve your dance? If the answer is yes, we would like to introduce you to the Tango Bodyshop.

The workshop takes place at our Tango 'home' in the delightful New Forest at Bramshaw Village Hall. The day is divided into four modules, with breaks in between for refreshments and lunch.

Each one hour module is made up of approximately 50 minutes of classroom work and 10 minutes of video recording. During each class we work on an element of musical technique which can involve working as an individual as well as with your partner. Steve and Debbie demonstrate and break down moves into the core technique of axis, balance, movement and posture.

Every couple gets personal attention from the teachers as the classroom session progresses.

Towards the end of each of the four modules, when everyone is demonstrating an understanding of and confidence in the move, the class performs the move on camera one couple at a time.

In the performance area, Steve uses digital video with theatre lighting to ensure the dancers are well lit against a white backdrop.
During the break between modules, the video recording is played back for dancers to assess.

Tango Bodyshop is a powerful catalyst for change,
enabling you to see your dance for yourself and through the eyes of a teacher.

Working with video at a Bodyshop Body Awareness Workshop
You can self-assess your posture, your technique and your style and then apply the fundamental principles of dance movement and technique taught in the classroom session to improve your tango.

The Bodyshop costs £45 per person.

For an additional £25 per person, dancers can purchase a review copy of their own performance material in Quicktime video format with personalised notes from Steve with tips and hints to improve your dance.

There is only one Bodyshop scheduled for 2010 on 23 October. BOOK BELOW...

Debbie, Steve - a very belated thank you for the last Bodyshop at Bramshaw which was excellent. It's an incredibly clever concept and having gone through the "does our bum look big in this" moment of seeing ourselves on screen at the first workshop we think it's a great way of developing technique and confidence -  you have managed to achieve the balance between what feels like a private lesson and a really supportive group class.
