As Autumn leaves start to fall (Edith Piaf)

This week, we have a special Friday night milonga with dancing in two rooms to two styles (traditional in main hall and nuevo in the dance studio) from 8pm till midnight. £7 on the door.

Its been a strange sort of year for us. We have at last been able to realise our dream of having our own dance studio. The studio has been open for the last 8 weeks and we are starting to get into the rhythm of all the new weekly events (more of these below).

It is tinged with sadness too as we have stopped teaching at TLC on Tuesday night. We offered to take a break for the summer as class numbers at Archers Road were dropping at the time and we could see that Tracie was concerned about things. So after 10 years of attending and providing approximately 1200 hours of teaching input at Archers Road, we didn't even go out with a bang - more of a muted phut. We miss it, but our attention must now concentrate on building numbers at Bramshaw to cover the overheads and investment in the new dance space.

The feedback about the new dance studio has been great. We have used it for both teaching and social events, and it looks and feels just right for both purposes. It is wonderful to have the grand piano on hand, especially when teaching the Advanced Musicality classes on Thursday nights (read feedback about this below).

Hope to see you at Brammers one day soon.

Super Tangk
September 24-26
As usual, the Super Tangk has sold out a few weeks after booking opened and we have a waiting list of dancers interested in case of any last minute changes. The event on 24-26 September hosts Ines and Constantin.

It is still possible to join in the weekend with us on a limited basis. We are offering 'dance only' tickets for the weekend at £35 which provide over 30 hours of dancing at 3 evening milongas and in the dance studio during the day when the workshops are taking place. Dance only ticket holders do not have access to the main hall during workshops. FURTHER DETAILS AND BOOKING

Eight days a week BEATLES TRIBUTE

We are experimenting with week night tango events in the dance studio, i.e. the first weekly milonga event in the area, to try to find out what people really want and are prepared to attend at Bramshaw.

The initial line up is:
Monday - Video Practica 8-11pm
Tuesday - All day open dance floor from 9-5pm (by prior arrangement)
Weds - Milonga 7-30-11pm
Thurs - Advanced Musicality Class 8-10pm

We are going to run this format for three months to see if we can build enough numbers to make the events sustainable - at the moment we are making a loss, but like all ventures, we know things take a while to build.

We would value your feedback on these new events and would like to hear which ones you plan to attend once the holiday period is over.
Thursday Night is music night

The jewel in the crown for us is the Thursday night musicality class. Steve has prepared a term of classes, supported with video projector visual aids, live grand piano and bandoneon and class notes available for download after each class.

The course is covering the rhythm and structure of tango, vals and milonga, then focusing on the style of the 8 most popular tango orchestras and links movement to each specific musical style.

This Thursday, the class is working with the orchestra of Carlos di Sarli, a style of music which facilitates lots of suspension and pauses and the potential for beautiful musical decorations by the lady.

The next two weeks cover the orchestras of Juan D'Arienzo (the king of rhythm) on 2 September and Miguel Calo on 9th September. Do you find dancing to Osvaldo Pugliese difficult? Don't miss the class on September 16th.  READ COMMENTS BY STUDENTS

The next Tangkademy hosts the amazing teaching of
Jenny Frances and Ricardo Oria

November 26-28

There are spaces for 4 couples booking together and 4 solo men. All the solo ladies places have sold out.

Tangkademy is a weekend workshop with four classes led by these amazing tango teachers who return to Bramshaw for the fifth time. They always get fabulous feedback from people attending their weekends.

There are two classes on Saturday and two on Sunday plus milongas each evening (Fri-Sun) with a welcome milonga on Friday evening from 8pm until midnight. Add together the milongas, practice time and workshops, you'll find you can dance for more than 25 hours over the weekend!

The cost for a weekend pass is £90pp or a dance only pass (no workshops ) is £35. DETAILS
