More about small group
intensives:
During
July 2008, we ran
a series of Tango Tiempo workshops at Archers Road to help dancers
understand the role of music for the tango dancer.
Most of the sessions were attended by small groups, due in part to the
holiday season and also, we feel, to most dancers' denial that they
lack an understanding of the role of music.
As a musician, I see dancers as an extension of the tango orchestra and
can see a lack of understanding of music in a dancer as clearly as you
would hear a novice
musician in a professional orchestra. Being part of the ensemble is not
difficult with a few rules and tips to follow.

During
the four Tiempo sessions, a new dynamic emerged working with small
groups. Most dancers found they benefitted from occasional one-to-one
attention from us, just like a private lesson, and made real advances
in their understanding of the dance.
Based on this feedback, we are running a series of small group
workshops before Bramshaw milongas to help dancers find a deeper and
more meaningful association of their dance with the music. Become part
of the ensemble and learn to dance from the heart rather than the
memory with a few simple rules and tips from a musician.
We believe the
music IS argentine tango and have developed workshops to
help dancers make the music significant in both the man's and the woman's role. |
